Leigh Webb Appointed Interim Superintendent and Budget Approved

The Williamson County School Board held a specially called meeting on June 29, 2026.

Donna Clements was absent and Drason Beasley arrived late.

Initially, this meeting was called to approve the budget that was sent back to the school board from the County Commission. After Jason Golden announced his resignation, the appointment of an interim superintendent was added to the agenda.

Superintendent

As required by state law, Mr. Golden gave 45 days notice for his resignation. That would have made his last day August 7th. The board and Mr. Golden mutually agreed to shorten that window so that his last day was on July 14th.

There was a motion to appoint Leigh Webb as interim superintendent. The listed salary was $275k and Eric Welch proposed an amendment to raise that to $295k. That motion passed. Mr. Golden praised Dr. Webb saying that she "is as complete of an administrator as I've ever worked with." Her appointment passes unanimously.

Josh Brown requested authority from the board to form a committee to search for a new superintendent. There is some discussion, but the board grants him this authority.

Budget

The county commission's budget removed $2.2 million for some textbooks. The idea would be that they would have to amend the budget during the school year to request these additional funds. After discussion, the budget passes 10-1, with Eric Welch voting no because of the $2.2 million cut.

They then talk about the pay scales. Initially, there was to be a 4% raise across the board. But Jason Golden suggested that be reallocated to give a 5% raise for hourly staff, a 2% raise for administrators, and a 4% raise for everyone else. That plan is adopted.

Jay Galbreath warned future boards that the problems that the salary study found will not be fixed without more funding. Josh Brown reiterated for the next board: "you're not going to cut your way out of this problem."
